Summer property tax bills are mailed on July 1st and payable through September 14th without penalty.  Winter property tax bills are mailed on December 1st and payable through February 28th without penalty.

Summer Tax Deferment (without penalty or interest)

Tax deferments are available if your gross income is less than $40,000 and you meet any of one of the following categories:

  • Seniors 62 years of age or older, including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death
  • Paraplegic, Hemiplegic, or Quadriplegic
  • Eligible Servicepersons, Eligible Veteran, Eligible Widow or Widower
  • Blind Person
  • Totally and Permanently Disabled

Application for Deferment of Summer Taxes must be received, by treasurer, by September 15th.  The deferred tax must be paid by the following February 28th to avoid penalty and interest.

Treasurer Statutory Duties and Authority

  • Collects real and personal property taxes
  • Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
  • Disburses township checks
  • Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
  • Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
  • Collects delinquent personal property tax
  • Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting delinquent personal property tax
  • Collects mobile home specific tax
  • Must appoint a deputy
  • Must post a surety bond
  • Member of township election commission
